How to Free Yourself from Your Technology Addiction

Technology Addiction
Written by yasir creep

They say that the first step towards resolving any kind of problem is by recognizing that you have a problem. So if you’re still in denial about the amount of times you check out 1Bid1 looking for a cheap smartphone or tablet for sale, or thinking about the best bidding site to buy your latest whim; then it might be time to take a cold hard look at reality.

Start the Day Differently

If you’re addicted to your cell phone like the rest of modern society, then the chances are, the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning is check your emails or flick through the headlines on your mobile device.

But instead of a breakfast of information before you even leave the house, try trading the telephone for a morning run or meditation instead. Or maybe just, you know, sit down and talk to your partner while you munch your cereal.

Set Yourself Limits

While it’s great that you can download your work email onto your mobile phone and work from anywhere in the world, try setting limits for yourself. Even if you’re the CEO of the company, you still deserve a break from time to time. Having your brain in on-mode 24/7 doesn’t give you a chance to properly switch off.

Try having moments without your cell phone, or stop replying to emails after a certain time each day. You’d be much better off heading to the gym and being motivated by your personal trainer, than sitting in your car speaking to Siri.

Stop Your Need to Search

If you’re constantly searching for everything, from directions to opening times, recipes to latest trends, then try stopping and thinking before you do and using your instinct instead. Have you thought about walking or driving somewhere without GPS and finding out where that leads? Or going on an adventure unprepared? It was fun remember? The days where you’d end up lost and flustered and far from home?

No? Oh, OK, you’re right. Life with smartphones and search and GPS is way better than being cold and lost and out of touch. So if you really can’t break your addiction, then at least make sure you don’t overpay for it. Internet cell phone auctions are a great way of getting finding tablets, phones or cheap cameras for sale. After all, if you can’t beat them, join them, right?
